HEAVY DUTY 6 WHEEL POWERCHAIR. When I give an opinion on a scooter or chair, it's not the opinion of a salesman, it's the opinion of someone who uses and understands what it's like to use mobility scooters and powerchairs. I first started using mobility scooters about 11 years ago when I was diagnosed with M. About 3 years ago I'converted' to powerchairs. I still use scooters now and then but my everyday rides are now powerchairs. For most uses I just prefer powerchairs. They have SO many advantages. The BIG one is manoeuvrability. Scooters are, putting it politely, a pain in the bottom in supermarkets and shops. The endless 3 point turns and having to worry about running over other shoppers gets very tiring. Powerchairs however, are a delight for shopping. The ability to spin around in the length of the chair and to drive right up to a shelf or counter makes shopping a pleasure. Access is another issue, particularly important for people with leg or hip problems such as arthritis. With a scooter you have to get your legs past the tiller; with a powerchair you just get straight in. It's so much easier to transfer. Like scooters, powerchairs come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The Invacare TDX SP2 is a heavy duty 6 wheel go almost!

Anywhere, indoor / outdoor, tarmac / off road powerchair. That's a pretty long description! To sum up, the TDX SP2 is a chair that you can use every day, for almost any purpose. Many chairs are insubstantial and only really suitable for occasional use. The TDX SP2 is a rock solid chair built to last.

It weighs around 150kgs, so is not a'portable' machine that you will fit in your car boot, at least not without a hoist or a ramp and a decent sized boot! The TDX SP2 is a 6 wheel, mid wheel drive chair, which means the driven wheels are right under you and you have'stabiliser wheels at the front and rear. It's an inherently stable design and it gives a real feeling of security when you use it. The centre of gravity is very low down and the TDX SP2 always feels'planted' to the ground. This is a 4mph machine so pavement legal. It's capable enough to take you to the shops and compact enough to take you round them. Comfort is very good, with the large diameter drive wheels rolling over bumps that would'trip up' lesser chairs. This example has also been fitted with the excellent'Jay Comfort' seat cushion, which further improves the comfort. The TDX SP2 is also fitted with the electric seat package which gives you electric full seat tilt and electric seat back recline. Very useful features that allow you to easily adjust the seating to precisely suit your requirements.

We've serviced, checked and tested the TDX SP2 and it's running great. The batteries have been checked and passed on our professional amp hour tester and whilst not new are in good useable condition. As a service to out customers we can also supply and fit brand new batteries at a specially subsidised rate. Overall, this is an excellent example of this super capable powerchair. Mobility Scooters and Chairs are a very complicated subject, they come in a HUGE variety of different types and sizes and people do too, so matching one to the other requires knowledge and experience. We don't work like that.
